Another little break in between storms gave me a chance to ski a great little roadside chute up Little Cottonwood Canyon. The White Pearl has been an elusive shot to ski over the past few winters, being located near the mouth of the canyon, it takes a ton of valley snow to make it possible.
I wasn’t able to find anybody interested or available to join me so I headed out solo. It’s nice to get out alone in the mountains from time to time and shoulder all the choice and responsibility that comes with a backcountry adventure.
Enjoy!
My 2 main goals for the winter of 2008 have been to make the best Powderwhore movie yet, and second is to finish skiing the chutes from the Chuting Gallery. We have had many storm days which have been a good chance to take a break from filming and head off to the deep recesses of the Wasatch to make tight turns in steep rocky terrain. Sounds like good times doesn’t it? The following is some helmet cam footage from the Benson and Hedges Couloir. It’s listed as S4, pitch 40 degrees, West facing and 2,000ft from top to bottom. One of the great things (and there are many) about the Wasatch are all the hidden little chute, gullies and side canyons that don’t see much traffic. It was a fun little outing with great snow in cool new terrain.
