It’s been a long long time (maybe since 1998) that I haven’t been working long hours through the summer to save up for winter. First it was manual labor in San Diego, then over the past few season’s I’ve been holed up scrambling to put out something that could resemble a ski movie.
This summer, thanks to Jonah and his new found editing skills and our improved organization, I’ve had a chance to get out and enjoy the summer more.
I was lucky enough to be invited along on a river trip down the Desolation and Gray Canyon section of the Green River.
Putting in on my first river trip at Sand Wash.
Andy Jacobsen preps the raft.
Our captain.
Thanks to Andy, Rose and the Hoffman family for letting me paddle along for the great ride.
The first two days were slow water, good times on the party barge.
We camped for 7 nights on beautiful soft sandy beaches.
AJ was on a bit of a mission for good bouldering along the river.
No shortage of great rock to play on.
I fell in love with the river somewhere along the way, could have been here.
Or, here......
The kid loves his rock!
I suck at climbing, but I'm an excellent spotter.
Sunrises, break camp, sunscreen, paddle, lunch, paddle, sunscreen, rapids, find camp, beers, make camp, dinner, relax, swim, cocktails, sleep.
Baya sleeps, Andy rows and Wren cheers for life on the river.
Goat posing....
for his petroglyph perhaps?
Never having been on a river trip, I always felt like I was in good hands and good company with Captain Andy.
Lizard mimicking AJ, or is AJ mimicking the lizard? I get confused.
Met great people and made new friends (and some sandcastles).
Couldn't think of a caption worthy of this.
Everything one could wish for, I can't think of a FUNNER way to spend a 33rd Birthday.
Noah,

Trav- Glad to hear the eye is going to be OK! Although leading Lone Peak and skiing it blind would have been pretty amazing.
Jared- You are right, but what are we going to do about it?
