Pretty huge surprise in this month’s issue of Backcountry Magazine!
Andreas Fransson appropriately takes the cover of the icon issue. If you haven’t been following his exploits, you are missing out on the most talented and exciting skier currently pushing what is possible with metal edges on snow.
They compiled a list of 50 “living legends” of the backcountry and for some reason my name appears inside. I’m really honored with this and very surprised. I don’t feel like I belong with the likes of Andrew McLean and Chris Landry, Peter Metcalf, or really any of these folks. Many of them have been heroes of mine. It’s an incredible list of athletes and innovators that have contributed to evolve this thing called backcountry skiing.
I’m really proud to be part of this “sport” and activity and hope that the things I do through Powderwhore and my blog will move people to get out and follow their desires into the mountains for fitness, inspiration and adventure. And with all the new attention and popularity that the backcountry is getting, I hope the focus on patience and safety will grow with the promotion of powder and big lines.

Congrats Noah. What is the “supercoaster” traverse?
